The Balance Guide to Rosacea
Rosacea is a common skin condition affecting 1 in 10 people in the UK. It can affect both men and women, however it seems to be more common in women. Rosacea often presents itself as flushing or redness of the skin, particularly across the cheeks, nose, and forehead. Other symptoms may include broken capillaries, pustules, rough skin texture and sensitivity.
What causes rosacea?
Unfortunately, there is no known cause for rosacea, but some things are known to make it worse, or to trigger a flare up. Alcohol, caffeine, heat, hormones, spicy foods, and stress are all things that can trigger rosacea. It can be helpful to keep a note of when your rosacea flares up to pinpoint what your triggers could be.
What’s the cure?
There is no cure for rosacea, but it can be managed with medical grade skincare products and treatments at home and in clinic.
What treatments & products can I have to manage rosacea?
Luckily, there are many options available to help manage the symptoms of rosacea. Treatments such as IPL, LED light therapy and advanced skin health facials have great benefits for the skin including the removal of broken capillaries, calming redness, and reducing congestion. As well as this, there are also many pharmaceutical grade products which are available to be used at home. Products with ingredients such as niacinamide, hinokitiol and aloe are able to calm, hydrate and nourish the skin.
